abstract = {Over the last four decades demographic transition has increased significantly the number of elderly individuals in industrialized societies. For oncologists, this has translated into an increasing number of elderly patients in daily practice. Today, in certain countries, up to 50% of new breast cancer cases are diagnosed in women 65 or older (1). Though recent data suggests that this is still not the case in China, with mean patient age standing currently at 49 (vs. 61 in the USA), it is likely to become the case over the next decades as demographic transition unfolds and life expectancy increases (2).},
