Nikolaos Machairas, MD, PhD is an Attending surgeon in General Hospital Laiko and a Lecturer at Faculty of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He received his medical degree in 2008 from the Faculty of Medicine in Athens where he later was also awarded his PhD for his research in experimental surgery. He completed his clinical fellowship at the Department of Hepato-pancreatic-biliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation of the Royal Free Hospital in London. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery, hepatopancretobiliary surgery and liver transplantation.
Dr. Machaira’s clinical and research work focuses on surgical management of HPB benign and malignant lesions and liver transplantation. He is the author of more than 130 peer-reviewed articles in high impact, prestigious medical journals.
