Maurizio Zizzo, MD, PhD

Dr. Zizzo was born in 1984 in Francavilla Fontana (Italy). He graduated at the Medical School of the “Aldo Moro” University of Bari (Italy) with the highest grade level and the Medical School Board commendation in 2011. Moreover, he received the “Dr. Costantino Cianciola” Postgraduate Award for Best Thesis in Surgical Pathology at the “Aldo Moro” University of Bari (Italy) in 2012.

Dr. Zizzo specialized in General Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) with the highest grade level in 2017. He obtained a scholarship with the project entitled “Surgical Resection for Synchronous or Metachronous Hepatic and Pulmonary Colorectal Cancer Metastases” at Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale - IRCCS di Reggio Emilia (Italy) in 2017.

Moreover, he discussed his PhD in May 2021 (Clinical and Experimental Medicine PhD Program - University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy) and his Master of Science in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery (University of Pisa, Italy) in 2023.

Currently, Dr. Zizzo is Assistant Chief of Surgical Oncology (from March 2023) at Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale - IRCCS of Reggio Emilia - Presidio Ospedaliero Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova (Italy) where, beside clinical activity, he is designing and coordinating several research projects in Surgical Oncology and Hematopathology.

Dr. Zizzo has published more than 200 papers in international journals. Moreover, he is a reviewer of many high impact international journals.
