Dr. Dumitrascu was born in Bucharest (Romania) in 1976 and is a senior surgeon and Chair of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Center of General Surgery and Liver Transplantation in Fundeni Clinical Institute (Bucharest, Romania). He got his Bachelor of Medicine at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania) in 2000 and M.D./ Ph.D. degree from the same university in 2008 and 2015, respectively. He was trained in general surgery in hospitals from Bucharest (Romania) and Heidelberg (Germany) between 2002 and 2008. Afterward, dr. Dumitrascu performed two fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery in Bucharest (Romania) and Paris (France). He got a permanent position as surgeon at the Department of Surgery in Fundeni Clinical Institute (Bucharest, Romania) in 2005. He joined as a faculty member (senior lecturer) of the Department of Surgery, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, Romania) in 2017. He published many papers in peer-reviewed journals, and he has previously served as Managing Editor for Annals of Fundeni Hospital and Journal of Translational Medicine and Research. Currently, he is also Associate Editor for BMC Surgery journal. He acts as a reviewer for more than 20 journals worldwide. He is an active member of the European and International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Associations and Royal Society of Medicine (London, U.K.). He received many national and international awards. His clinical and research interest is mainly focused on digestive surgical oncology, particularly on pancreatic and biliary cancer.
