Hepatocellular carcinoma: present and future
Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in some areas of the world; there is an increasing incidence worldwide, and approximately 500,000 new cases are reported per year. More than 75% of cases occur in the Asia-Pacific region, largely in association with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (1).
